Fight the Sunday Blues with my nine tips for the best day ever!

I recently decided that Sunday will be a sacred day for me. It’s the day where I feed my soul, mind, and body with positive things. Back in the days, I used to get depressed and anxious because Sundays meant the end of the weekend and the beginning of another hectic week at work. I spent my Sundays stressing about the future week instead of enjoying the present.

I made a choice to stop suffering the Sunday blues and start taking advantage of all the great things that can come with a zen Sunday. I’ve started to practice the following tips on my Sundays, and the results have been amazing!

1-Wake up earlier

You might think weekends are for catching up on sleep. For those busy bees, it’s the best. I treat myself by sleeping in on Saturdays. On Sunday’s, however, I wake up early so I can enjoy myself and get the most out of the day. The feeling of waking up early and relaxed knowing I have a full day to do whatever I please is priceless.

2-Treat your body right

Here’s a tip to start your day right: drink a glass of hot water with lemon. It boosts your immune system from the Vitamin C, and it also detoxes your body by flushing out the toxins.  I’ve been doing this for years, and I rarely get sick.

After I start my mornings with a cup of hot water and lemon, I treat myself to a home cooked breakfast and coffee. When it comes to breakfast, I try my best to make something I don’t have the luxury to have on the weekdays. Go big since you have the time!

3-Catch up on your favs

As a blogger, I need to constantly feed my creativity by seeing what other bloggers are writing about and of course catching up with Adventurself’s latest posts! I also read the news and sometimes I try to buy the paper when I want to read the local news.

You might be a big TV watcher, and that’s cool too! Use the day to catch up on entertainment, through any medium. I always feel so fulfilled and refreshed after making time for the things that matter to me!

4-Work Out

I’m one of those that tries my best to go to the gym on weeknights, but most of the time it’s a fail. It’s easier for me to go to the gym on the weekends because I simply have more time. Also, a good workout on a Sunday helps put me in a good mood for Monday.

5-Feed your soul

After I’m done feeding my body and mind, it’s time nurture my soul by thanking God for all the good things that happened this week and praying for a better upcoming week.

If religion doesn’t have a place in your life, take the time to get in touch with your spiritual self and finds ways to decompress and rejuvenate your soul. Whether that be meditating, or purely reflecting on the past week; it’s more important than you might think!

6-Treat yo’ self

There’s nothing more relaxing than taking a long bath and primping. Once I hit 28, I became more interested in learning about beauty products because I’m trying to “age gracefully.”  For a refreshing face mask, I use The Original Fango Mud Therapy by Harvey Prince it hydrates and cleanses my skin. I also exfoliate to get rid of those dead skin cells. I currently use Microdermabrasion Scrub by Derma e and finally I apply  Drink Up Intensive by Origins, an overnight mask that keeps my face hydrated through overnight to start my Monday with soft skin.

7-Read a book

I’m a bookaholic I’m always reading something. I think reading is life, period. I’m currently reading “You’ll Grow Out of It” by Jessi Klein ever since I started reading this book  I haven’t been able to stop laughing at her humorous essays based on her life stories.

8-Plan your week

I’m of those who carries an agenda everywhere. Every Sunday I sit down and write down everything I have and want to accomplish over the week. I get anxiety if I don’t write everything down plus I tend to forget things if I don’t write them down.

9-Netflix and Chill

I cap off the night in bed and watch my favorite shows on Netflix. I’m currently obsessed with New Girl and The Walking Dead. I’m excited to start watching House of Cards and Breaking Bad. As important as it is to feed your body, mind, and soul; it’s also refreshing to zone out and do something relaxing and mindless!


This list is in no way meant to work for everyone. If you’re reading this post with enough time to salvage on your Sunday, try to add some of these items to your agenda. The most important thing to turning your Sunday’s into the best day is to make time for moments and things that flourish your mind, fuel your body, and feed your soul! Start enjoying your Sunday’s and stop those Sunday blues!
